EEM 6th graders are reading The City of Ember. They were given the challenge of dressing up as one of this week's vocabulary words. Several of them rose to the challenge and had so much fun being creative!

EEM - Help us cheer on our students for what they have already accomplished. These students have worked hard to prepare for Choral Performance Assessment. This is a picture from February 28 as students were about to leave for competition at Ouachita Baptist University.
EEM - Thursday Mrs. Davi's choir students improvised with Tubano drums and Xylophones during March Mallet Madness!!
EEM-Mrs. Threet's Pre-AP reading class held a mock trial for the main characters of "The Midwife's Apprentice". Students developed questions, testimonies, and statements for or against Alyce regaining her apprenticeship. It's always a blast debating and taking on a new role!
EEM - Want to make certain you remember a topic? Teach it to someone else. That's exactly what Mrs. Goode's classes did. Students designed and taught interactive lesson on reflective narrative. Lessons included "I Can Statements" and 6th grade Arkansas State Standards.
EEM - Who done it?! Which teacher stole Ms. Pitts’ candy? Students loved earning clues to the mystery by answering main idea questions correctly. Ask your 7th grader who the culprit was.
EEM - Thank you, Mr. Ron Hale, for speaking to Career Development classes Friday, February 28th about jobs with the railroad. The career possibilities are endless!

EEM - Time flies when you are having fun! Last week, Ms. Reynolds' Social Studies classes planned a trip, booked flight and hotel, calculated a budget with exchange rates, planned sightseeing trips and created a slide show of their proposed trip. Pack your bags, the plan is set!
Dance Team tryouts for both Jr High and High School are coming up March 16-20. There will be a parent meeting on March 5 at 6 PM in the new SHS Cafeteria.
EEM - Mrs. Threet's 6th grade writing classes are up and moving analyzing reflective narratives. Students are scoring narratives based on the 6th grade ACT Aspire Reflective Narrative Rubric and the assigned prompt.
EEM - Mrs. Askew's 6th grade English class doing Tabletop Twitter. Everyone had the opportunity to comment on the pictures.
Students from SMS and EEM competed in the Winter Showdown last Saturday at McGehee High School. Students from EEM composed two teams. It was a great learning experience for the VEX students. We placed 7th and 18th out of 19 total teams.
EEM - Ms. Pitts had students analyze famous changemakers. Students worked in groups in order to determine their changemaker’s philosophy, vision, and goals.
EEM - Ms. Pittenger's 6th grade math classes have been using unconventional tools for measuring. Students used their hand to measure objects around the classroom. The size of their hand was then used to convert their measurements to standard units.

Yesterday, our Student Council had their first meeting. Excited for the work we will do for our school and peers.
EEM - Today Mrs. Teague's 7th-grade science classrooms modeled population growth in an ecosystem. Tomorrow we will be graphing and analyzing their data, discussing how the population size can affect the resources available.
EEM - Mr. Braden's 6th grade Pre-AP science students worked on a project requiring them to research and construct a detailed model of Earth's 6 major layers. The project had guidelines but students were allowed artistic freedom. Check out the talent and creativity!

Students in Ms. Pitt's 7th grade class loved reading about Nicholas Lowinger and the positive change he has made. Nicholas donates shoes to homeless children in shelters across America. Students created cards to be delivered to the kids his organization helps. #GottaHaveaSole
