S.T.E.M. learning continues in full force in Mrs. Teague's class! 7th-grade students are building towers out of index card. Towers must reach 40 cm and hold the most weight. Look at what a great job they are doing!
Last week 7th grade students started designing rockets that travel 6 meters to a target. We have all types of rockets and are seeing new modifications each day that make the rockets more accurate!
6th graders at EEM started the week off in Mrs. Goode’s and Mrs. Threet’s English classes by creating their own thematic statements showcasing their perspectives on growing up. This is part of our "Growing Up" Unit studying various forms of literature.
Yesterday, students answered questions over the LR Nine through tabletop twitter. This allowed students to see what other students thought in prior periods. Students loved getting the chance to share their answers through tabletop Twitter. Their answers blew Ms. Pitts away!
Students in Mrs. Scott's class are creating animal costumes with recycled items and presenting the animal poem in class. What creativity!
Students in Ms. Pitts 7th grade English class loved learning more about the Little Rock Nine from Fabian Ruiz from Central High School National Historic Site.
Mrs. Teague's 7th grade students are working through the Engineering Process to design a watercraft that will float and hold at least 25 pennies. Students are currently testing their prototypes to determine what modifications are needed.
7th graders at EEM are using a grid to draw an image on a larger scale. Students selected someone they admired and created a grid on their image and their paper. They are looking good so far! Way to go, Mrs. Otten's - integrating math and art!
January is School Board Appreciation Month. Be sure to thank your school board members for all they do to support our students!
Mrs. Lewis's 8th grade US History classes worked in teams to beat the clock and uncover the causes of the War of 1812! By using decoding skills, puzzles, black-lights to find hidden clues, and teamwork they were able to help the Americans prepare for the war against the British!
EEM 6th grade is kicking off the New Year by starting an affirmation wall. Students are able to take and leave positive and encouraging words for one another.
Mrs. Goode's 6th grade ELA students set a goal for themselves to read 400 books by Christmas. They surpassed that goal at 416 books!
Stay tuned for them to set a higher goal and read even more great books next semester!
EEM Austin McCann and SMS Zoey Newcomb were apart of The Art and Science Center of Southeast Arkansas production of The Christmas Story this past weekend. Austin was cast as "Ralphie" and Zoey as "Esther Jane" both students are apart of Mrs. Scott's Drama class.

Watch out! The dragons are watching! 6th graders in Mrs. Otten's art class have worked hard on their oil pastel dragon eyes. They turned out amazing!
6th Grade ELA students presented ornaments that opened a door into each of their lives. This project was an implementation of Capturing Kids' Hearts, and their stories can be seen on the trees in the two 6th Grade ELA classrooms at EEM.
East End Middle School students prepared a Thanksgiving meal and invited some very special people to come and enjoy the meal with them.
Our middle school choir, under the direction of Denise Davis, put on an incredible holiday concert this week! We are thankful to East Union for hosting this great event!
Mrs. Threet's writing classes are learning and having a blast working collaboratively to create a podcast script. Podcasts are a fun and engaging way to review the proper use of dialogue, using quotation marks, clauses, capitalization, and punctuation.
