The Sheridan High School Class of 2024 will hold its Signing Day ceremony on Tuesday, May 7 at Yellowjacket Arena. Parents are invited and will need to enter through the arena doors and sign in at the arena lobby. Doors will open at 8:15 a.m. for guests to sign in, and the event starts at approximately 9:00 a.m.
This event is for all Sheridan seniors with plans to go to college, trade school, military, workforce, etc., after graduation. Let's support our graduating Yellowjacket seniors!
May 6-10 is Mental Health Awareness Week for Arkansas schools. Join us in celebrating mental health awareness by wearing green on Monday, May 6.

The Sheridan JV boys' soccer team dropped a rough match 4-0 against Benton. The Yellowjacket varsity boys played hard and battled, losing to Benton 1-0. The Panthers went up 1-0 in the first half. The Jacket defense stepped up and held Benton scoreless in the second half. Sheridan had multiple opportunities to score but just couldn’t find that back of the net. Friday is Senior Night against Texarkana. Games start with JV boys playing at 4:00 followed by varsity girls and then varsity boys.

The Lady Jackets beat Benton 8-1 yesterday to improve to 24-2 overall and 15-0 in conference play. Sheridan closes out the regular season with Senior Night on Friday at home against Texarkana.
Lady Yellowjacket basketball tryouts start soon! Tryouts for eighth and ninth grade teams will be May 6. Seventh-grade tryouts are May 7. Tryouts for the high school team will be May 15. Please see the graphic for details.
The Yellowjacket baseball team led 2-0 early on, but eventually lost a hard-fought 4-2 contest to the Benton Panthers yesterday. The Jackets will close out the regular season at home on Friday against Texarkana.
The Junior Blue Squad of the Sheridan Trap team won third place in the YSS regional tournament on Friday, April 26. They will be competing in the YSS state tournament on May 31. It's sport/band physical week at SHS! Jacket Health and Wellness still has available appointment times for FREE physicals on campus this Wednesday, Thursday and Friday May 1-3. To participate in a physical, a parent or guardian MUST do the following:

Tonight is Senior Night for our Yellowjacket baseball seniors as Sheridan hosts Benton. The Senior Night ceremony will be after the varsity game, which starts at 5 p.m. Go Jackets!
Sheridan High School students Libby Wilson, Mary Beth Bryant, Chloe Clark, Paige Clark, Corbin Hunter, Thatcher Allen, Lily Patrick, Kaylee Arnold and Courtney Mayberry competed in the state FBLA competition April 29-30 in Little Rock. The group had advanced after placing in regional FBLA competition earlier. They represented the YJNation well!
Corina Schindel, manager of Human Resources for Georgia-Pacific, is pictured making a $2,000 charitable contribution on behalf of the company to the Sheridan School District. SSD Deputy Superintendent Lincoln Daniels received the check. The District appreciates Georgia-Pacific's generous contribution!
Due to the potential for bad weather on Thursday, the Class 5A state track meet has been rescheduled for Wednesday, May 1 at Russellville High School. Yellowjackets who have qualified for the state meet are:
Skylar Sterritt - 100m dash, 200m dash, long jump and high jump
Bella Norman - 3200m run
Nathan Uptagrafft - 110m hurdles, 300m hurdles, discus
Hunter Sredin - 110m hurdles
Izaiah Owens - 100m dash

The Yellowjacket boys started out strong against White Hall on Friday, going up 2-0 early in the first half. The Jackets played hard but could not pull out the win, as the Bulldogs took a 7-2 victory. Sheridan plays at home Tuesday night against Benton and at home Friday night against Texarkana. (Friday is Senior Night for both Yellowjacket boys' and girls' soccer teams.) The JV boys start at 4 p.m., followed by varsity girl, then varsity boys for both nights. Come out and support your LadyJackets and Jackets soccer programs!
ATHLETICS UPDATE: To avoid bad weather, there are changes in today's Sheridan athletics schedule for events at White Hall.
Softball will begin at 4:00 instead of 5:00.
Baseball will begin at 4:30 instead of 5:00.
There will not be a JV soccer match. Varsity girls will start at 4:00 followed by varsity boys.
