The Lady Yellowjacket softball team (25-2) defeated Van Buren 8-1 today in the first round of the Class 5A state playoffs. With the victory, Sheridan advances to the second round tomorrow against Maumelle (22-6-1) , which beat Searcy 4-0 today. Starting time for that game will be 12 p.m. Go Jackets, take State!
SHS boys' basketball tryouts will be May 23 from 3:30-4:30 at Yellowjacket Arena.

Sheridan Athletic Director Rick Treadway presented the Lady Yellowjacket softball team with the 5A South conference championship award yesterday. The presentation was made prior to the softball Senior Night ceremony. Sheridan finished the regular season 24-2- overall and a perfect 16-0 in conference play. They will play Van Buren in the first round of the state playoffs on Thursday at 10 a.m. in Harrison. Go Lady Jackets!

National School Nurse Day was established to foster a better understanding of the role of school nurses in the educational setting. Thank you to all our school nurses!
Sheridan baseball Coach Mike Moore was honored today in front of a large Senior Signing Day crowd at Yellowjacket Arena. Moore was presented a plaque/clock commemorating his 700th victory as a head coach -- a milestone reached earlier this season. Sheridan Athletic Director Rick Treadway made the presentation.

The Sheridan varsity boys' soccer team saved the best for last. The Yellowjackets took care of business Friday night, beating Texarkana 5-1 on Senior Night. Jordan Vang scored two goals, while Javone Mims, Jayden Beeson, and Caleb Harrison each scored a goal for Sheridan. It was a great way to close out the season! Way to go, Jackets! Mrs. Todd's class would like to thank Shelby Taylor Trucking and Trayvis Todd for a hands-on learning experience about the importance of reforestation and protecting the environment we live in. A lot of eager little students are ready to learn more about Natural Resource Management and Forestry.
Also, a big thank you to the Department of Agriculture and Forestry and ArborGen nursery. The students were excited about being able to take home both a hardwood and a pine tree to plant.
The Yellowjacket softball and baseball games scheduled against Texarkana at home have been cancelled due to field conditions. Instead, Sheridan will play softball and baseball at Hot Springs tonight. The softball Senior Night activities will be held on Tuesday, May 7.

The Sheridan High School choirs performed their Spring Concert last night at McKenzie Hall. They performed their competition songs and a few added fun songs to end the school year.
