Over the past few weeks at East End Intermediate, Mrs. Lloyd's classes have been studying matter and its various states. Last week, they had the opportunity to make a non-Newtonian fluid, oobleck, that changes states of matter when pressure is applied or released. #LearnBigDreamBigger

Last Tuesday East End Intermediate had Monthly Morning Meeting. We recognized all students who received a Positive Office Referral and celebrated all Students and Classes of the Month who were nominated for starting the year off strong. Congratulations to all who received awards and recognition!
The CKH Word of the Month for September is empathy. Students will be doing character lessons in counseling this month learning what empathy is, how to be empathetic towards others, and how it will help them in growing to be a stronger leader.

EEI's 3rd grade students celebrated literacy day yesterday which included a trip to the Saline County Library East End Branch and several activities at our school. Thank you to all the helping hands who made this day possible - Kristi Meyer, Dani Hardy, Mrs. Elledge, Mrs. Futch, and Mrs. Richardson. Also, a huge shout out to our library for partnering with our school to make reading fun and provide summer activities for families to enjoy!

Deputy Fashank hosted a contest for students to write an essay describing what they learned about staying safe at school this year. Winners received a pizza party with police during their assigned lunch time. Thank you to all the officers who came out to spend time with our kids!

EEI celebrated students' effort on their ATLAS assessments this year through a raffle drawing for prizes. Prizes were purchased through Student Council fundraisers this year as well as community donations collected by our PTO. A huge shout out to our community donors - Malvern National Bank, Simmons Bank, Pinnacle Gymnastics, and Buffie Howard / Truman Ball Real Estate. Thank you for making this possible for our students!

EEI hosted Career Day last week. Students took a career interest survey during their counseling class last month, were grouped by their career interests, and were able to hear from community volunteers about the education/training required for their job as well as a daily overview of what their job entails. We want to thank all volunteers for taking time off to spend with our students to create a memorable experience.

EEI welcomed EEE's second graders for a tour of the building, hosted by some of our 5th grade students. Students had an opportunity to walk through the building, meet the third grade teachers, and see the playground (which of course is their favorite part)! We're excited to have these students join the EEI family next year!
