Out of an abundance of caution and with the most significant impact of hazardous winter precipitation being between 6-10 a.m. today, the Sheridan School District will be closed today.
At this time, the Sheridan School District plans to be open and school in session tomorrow. However, with predictions of possible winter precipitation tomorrow morning, the district will not make a final decision until after 5 a.m. Parents should have an alternate plan for their students in case the district must make a last-minute decision to close or delay school based on the morning weather conditions.
All-region band auditions in Crossett have been moved from Saturday, Jan. 20 to Monday, Jan. 22 afternoon due to road conditions. Best wishes to our Yellowjackets!

East End Intermediate students, along with EEI Principal Dr. Amber Binz and Assistant Principal Liane Teague, hosted members of the Sheridan School District Board of Education and SSD administrators on Friday. The visit included a student-led tour of the school along with lunch in the EEI cafeteria.

Sheridan Assistant Superintendent Chad Pitts presented a certificate of appreciation to Summer Williams, SSD AP/GT coordinator, at Monday's school board meeting. The Sheridan School District gave special recognition to its Board of Education members on Monday during the board's regular monthly meeting. Gov. Sarah Sanders perviously issued a proclamation that declared January as "School Board Member Recognition Month." SSD Superintendent Dr. Karla Neathery presented each board member a certificate of appreciation and a Yellowjacket cutting board made by students in Sheridan's Kohler Academy. Sheridan Mayor Cain Nattin also read a a Mayoral Proclamation in honor of the board members. The Sheridan wrestling team will host a quad match today that includes Sylvan Hills, Pulaski Academy and Hot Springs. The event starts at 4:30 p.m. in the bottom gym at SHS. Go Jackets!
