This is a reminder that the Sheridan School District WILL HAVE CLASSES on Friday, March 29. That day was originally shown on the school calendar as "no school for students/make-up day if needed." Due to the days missed because of inclement weather in January/February, March 29 will be utilized as a make-up day.

UPDATE to a previous post: Due to expected bad weather later in the day, Sheridan baseball, softball, soccer and track have all been cancelled.
Volleyball tryouts for the 2024-25 season will be held in May. Varsity will be May 22, incoming 8th/9th will be May 16, and incoming 7th-grade will be May 13-14. Varsity tryouts will be in Yellowjacket Arena from 3:30-5 p.m., and middle school tryouts will be at the Sheridan Middle School gym from 3:30-5 p.m.

Join us in congratulating Candace Wilson, who was approved by the Sheridan School Board on Monday night to be principal at Sheridan High School in 2024-25.
Wilson currently serves as assistant principal at SHS. She has been in education since 2005 and first joined the Sheridan School District as a classroom teacher in 2008. She was an Arkansas Teacher of the Year semi-finalist in 2019. Wilson went on to serve as a secondary instructional facilitator before assuming her role as assistant principal. Wilson has a bachelor’s degree from Henderson State University and a master’s degree and building level principal certification from Arkansas State University.

There are a limited number of pre-K openings for 2024-25 at both Sheridan Elementary School and East End Elementary School. They will be filled on a first-come, first-qualified basis. For pre-K, a child must be 4 years old on or before Aug. 1, 2024. The pre-K classes are funded through Arkansas Better Chance for School Success and have specific guidelines as to which students qualify for services. This program serves 4-year-old children from families with gross income not exceeding 200% of the Federal Poverty Level. East End Elementary School hosted a school board luncheon on Friday, March 8. The event included presentations by students as well as Principal Vickie Easley and Assistant Principal Tamara Howard. (Easley is retiring at the end of the month and Howard has been named as the next principal.) EEE students helped make posters and art to welcome the board members to campus. #YJNation

Mrs. Lewis' AP U.S. History students took on the role of famous reformers during the Progressive Era this week. In a speed dating activity, students tried to find a "perfect match" who had similar viewpoints as their historical figure.
