Dear SHS Families:

Let me first say how proud I am of our students for their resilience during this Covid-19 pandemic. The changes brought about by this pandemic have no doubt impacted our lives greatly.

The Sheridan School District continues to monitor the spread of the virus in our schools and community, and as much as we do not like to make changes to our plans, we understand that changes are sometimes necessary.

While the total number of active Covid-19 cases remains low at the high school, we have recently contacted several high school students instructing them to quarantine because they have been identified as probable close contacts to a positive case.

As a result, many students have become concerned they will not be able to participate in Homecoming on Oct. 16. We want our student body to know that we hear these concerns, and we are considering options for the Homecoming ceremony.

One option the district is considering is to postpone the ceremony. However, at this time, it is difficult to know if doing so would be advantageous for our students, because there is no guarantee that our numbers will improve by the next possible date for Homecoming.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Sincerely,

Jason Burks

SHS Principal
