Rhonda Bell Named Middle School Physical Education Teacher of the Year
Rhonda Bell, physical education teacher at Sheridan Intermediate School, was recognized as the Middle School Physical Education Teacher of the Year by Arkansas Association Health Physical Education Recreation and Dance (ArkAHPERD).
The awards ceremony was held on Nov. 5 at the ArkAHPERD State Convention in Little Rock.
This award recognizes individuals who promote and support quality physical education in Arkansas. Bell was nominated by her principal, Teresa Knight, and was selected by past ArkAHPERD Physical Education Teacher of the Year winners.
Knight says she is excited and proud to see Bell recognized as the Physical Education Teacher of the Year. “Mrs. Bell is an amazing PE teacher,” said Knight. “She seeks out new and innovative ways to keeps students active. She goes above and beyond to help create a great atmosphere for kids and takes initiative whenever she sees a need. She is a team player and an essential piece of our faculty!”
Bell, who is currently serving her 21st year in education, feels honored to have been selected for this award.
“I am very grateful for this recognition,” Bell said. “I work with a group of amazing people who have helped make this possible.”
“I love working with them and our students,” she added. “I am blessed to be the PE teacher at SIS.”
As an ArkAHPERD Teacher of the Year Award winner, Bell qualifies to enter the Southern District-SHAPE America Teacher of the Year competition in 2018.
