Troupe 89623 competed in the first AR Jr. Thespian virtual festival this past Saturday. They took home excellent in Duet Acting. These students represent both EEM and SMS.

EEM- No internet? No problem! Noah Long leads an Algebra tutorial for peers. Meanwhile, in Mrs. Scott’s Drama class, characters for storytelling are created. Sketching, identifying internal and external traits with wants and needs. Cell phone hotspots also keep learning going.

EEM - 6th and 7th grade GT students practiced their problem-solving and creativity skills during Jacket Time today. They used an assortment of supplies to engineer a device to safely move an object along the "Slide for Life" without ever touching it - all in under 8 minutes.
EEM and SMS will host their first round of spelling bees via a virtual test which enables all students to fairly compete . If you would like your child (blended or virtual) to participate, please register ASAP at https://online-test.spellingbee.com so that we can assign the correct tests and begin testing the week of November 30th. Virtual students will be permitted to test from home, and blended students will test using the same format at school. Please note that the campus and county spelling bees will be held in person. EEM - All students (virtual or on-site; 6th, 7th, or 8th) are invited to participate in Chess Club this year. If interested, e-mail Mrs. Lewis to sign up by Friday, November 20th. Practices will be held after school, students will have the option of staying on campus or joining practice virtually! EEM Families: As part of a coordinated response to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Arkansas Department of Education in partnership with the Office for Education Policy at the University of Arkansas has developed a Parent/Guardian Survey to gather input from families throughout the state on what is working now and what may be considered for the future in education as it relates to the pandemic.

EEM - Mrs. Lewis's class learned about the electoral college process before election day Nov. 3rd. After reviewing past electoral college maps and learning about "safe states" and "swing states," students guessed for the 2020 election! I wonder if they will get it right?
EEM 7th grade families - As shared with students, the late work policy for 7th grade is as follows: To earn full credit, assignments are due a week (7 days) from the day the assignment is posted. After the due date students will receive a 10% deduction for each day it is late. If you have individual questions or concerns specific to your child, please reach out to the 7th grade team.
EEM - Proud of our work - join us in celebrating! Ms. McCaslin's Jacket Time - House of Cognos was a two time winner in the Door Decorating Contest for Red Ribbon Week. We won 1st place in the EEM Student's Choice & 3rd Place in the school-wide competition.

Students lose 5% of the total points everyday an assignment is late. After 2 weeks, the assignment is closed and earns 0%. If you have individual questions or concerns specific to your child, please reach out to the 8th grade team.

EEM - 6th grade parents, as discussed with students this week and to ensure a great 2nd quarter - this is the late work policy for 6th grade: Students have two (2) full weeks (14 days) to complete and submit assignments - without penalty, from the original date the assignments are given. Once the 14 day window is closed, it will not be re-opened. Incomplete or unsubmitted assignments will be recorded as zeroes.
