🍎 Sweet Treats for a Kind Staff!
We are feeling the love at East End Intermediate! Although this post is delayed from earlier this week, we didn't want to miss the chance to give a huge shout-out and THANK YOU to our amazing PTO.
They surprised our staff with delicious treats to celebrate Kindness Month, and their thoughtfulness truly fueled our teachers and staff! February is all about spreading positivity, and our PTO certainly took that to heart. We are so lucky to have such a supportive community behind us.

It’s Merle Monday and the race is ON! 🐾📚
The Reading Challenge is officially in high gear! From staff to students, everyone is flying through pages and escaping into incredible new worlds. Even Merle is getting in on the action—he’s been visiting classrooms during DEAR time to join reading groups and hear all about our students' favorite books.
The competition is getting serious! With everyone huddled around the leaderboards to check the current standings, it’s anyone's game. Who will be at the top by Friday? Keep reading, East End!

Our students have been working incredibly hard, and our teachers have so much to "brag" about! We can't wait to share all the amazing progress and growth we’ve seen in the classrooms.

💯 100 Days Smarter at East End Intermediate! 💯
Last Friday, our hallways were filled with creativity, counting, and a whole lot of school spirit as we celebrated the 100th Day of School! To mark the occasion, our students showed off their best 100-themed gear, and the competition was tough! Students cast their votes to crown winners in some truly awesome categories: 😂 Funniest, 💪 Heaviest, 🌟 Brightest, 🛒 Best Bought, 🎨 Best Homemade, ✨ Most Creative
We are so proud of how much our students have grown over the last 100 days. Here’s to 80 more days of learning, laughter, and success!

📐 In Math: Mrs. Jones's 5th graders put their geometry skills to the ultimate test with "Quadrilateral Clubs!" To gain admission into these exclusive clubs, students had to master the specific attributes of every shape. Way to go, math experts!
📚 In Reading: We love seeing our students support one another! Mrs. Whitehead's 5th grade class teamed up with Mrs. Elledge's 3rd grade class for DEAR time. These new "Reading Buddies" paired up to share stories and practice their reading skills together.

Our East End Intermediate 3rd-grade scientists have been hard at work! Students learned about environmental changes impacting plant and animal habitats, then had to make claims for proposed solutions to those problems. Their solutions were originally designed and drawn out in class. 🐾🌱
We want to give a huge shout-out to Gavin, who took his solution to the next level. Gavin didn’t just stop at the drawing—he turned his vision into a full 3D model for an extension project! 🛠️
We are so proud of Gavin for going the extra mile and showing such incredible dedication to his learning. Way to go, Gavin! 👏✨

Merle is popping in today with a friendly reminder for our families! Interim testing season has officially arrived, and we’ve noticed many of our students are in desperate need of headphones or earbuds.
While they are essential for testing, students also use them frequently in classrooms for specific assignments and learning activities.
🎧 How You Can Help:
Check-In: Please ask your child if their headphones from the start of the year are still working or if they need a new set.
Keep It Simple: They don't have to be fancy with a microphone like Merle’s! Any standard plug-in set will work perfectly.
Let's make sure our East End Intermediate students are plugged in and ready to succeed! Thank you for your continued support. 🐝✨

Our 5th graders at East End Intermediate are turning numbers into real-world solutions! 📊
Students recently took on a big challenge: estimating the number of milk cartons needed for our school and the entire district on both a daily and weekly basis.
The Result?
They compared their estimates to actual district costs.
Every single class came in either under budget or within $200 of the actual total!
We are incredibly proud of the collaboration between our students, teachers, cafeteria manager, and the District Child Nutrition Director. This was a fantastic way for our students to apply their math skills to a real-world career scenario! 👏✨
