On Dec. 17, the Sheridan High School competitive cheerleading team placed first in the 6A Division at the 2016 State Cheer Championship held in Hot Springs. This is the team's second consecutive State Championship.
Over the last five years, the team has acquired an impressive record at State Competition. They placed as the State Runner-Up in 2012, State Champions in 2013, State Runner-Up in 2014, State Champions in 2015 and State Champions in 2016.
"I knew the moment they finished their routine that SHS Cheer would be named State Champions again," said Sheridan School District Athletic Director Matt Scarbrough. "Their performance was flawless. I am so proud of their relentless dedication and hard work."
The SHS Cheer Team is led by Coach Dana Morton and Jennie Michael, who volunteers her time to help coach. The team's choreographer is Blake Bishop.
