Statement from Chad Pitts, Superintendent of the Sheridan School District: The Sheridan School District has recently been working closely with the Office of Emergency Management (OEM) to implement Rave Alert, a widely-used emergency notification system designed to help keep our schools and communities safe. Earlier this morning, during an initial test of the system, an error occurred. A test notification that was intended for only a small group of five individuals was mistakenly sent to a larger number of school employees across various parts of the District. We understand the confusion and concern this may have caused, and we sincerely apologize for any distress this situation may have created. Both the Sheridan School District and the Office of Emergency Management are actively investigating the cause of this error and are taking immediate steps to ensure that it does not happen again in the future. The safety and well-being of our students, staff, and community are our top priority, and we remain committed to maintaining transparent communication as we work through this matter. Thank you for your understanding.

Earlier this week, some members of Sheridan School District’s leadership team met to discuss ways to build high-performing, collaborative teams. Led by Janel Keating, the group focused on ways to improve practices and processes across the district – everything from the boardroom to the classroom – with the goal of enhancing both student and adult learning. It was a great opportunity for everyone to work together on strategies that will help us move forward in achieving our mission.
