To address concerns that have been expressed by some on social media and to clarify, there is no immediate threat/danger in Sheridan schools. Nucor is hosting its first backpack drive in Sheridan on Friday, August 4 from 6-8 p.m. The backpacks will be first-come first-serve. The event will also have popcorn, drinks and music. Nucor officials say, "We are excited to give back to the Sheridan community and support the students this upcoming school year!"

Sheridan students and administrators kicked off the 2023 Arkansas Association of Educational Administrators fall conference today in Little Rock. Dr. Karla Neathery, superintendent of the Sheridan School District, serves as president of the AAEA and welcomed attendees. She introduced the Sheridan JROTC color guard, under the direction of SGM Darryl Dean, for the presentation of colors. Sheridan High School Principal Dr. Blaine Alexander led the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by East End Middle School student Allie Sharp’s outstanding rendition of the “Star Spangled Banner.” The Sheridan School District Middle School choir performed two songs -- “Shosone Love Song” and “Tongo.” The choir is under the leadership of Karissa Lindsey, SMS choir director.
It's time to clean out that closet! If you have a musical instrument from your child's time in band (or when you were in band), please consider donating it to the Sheridan band program. We always have students who can benefit from a loaner if theirs is being repaired, and we have many students who are interested in learning secondary instruments. Many instruments can be put into playing condition with minor service and can continue to give someone the joy of making music.

Mrs. Dee Creed accompanied the ALA staff to the 23rd Annual Alternative Arkansas Association of Alternative Educators where she received her retirement plaque. Staff members have spend the majority of the week sharpening their skills to help students excel in academics and behavior needs.
Sheridan High School teacher Olivia Lewis is currently serving as an instructor in the Personal and Social Development program at Arkansas Governor’s School. Mrs. Lewis is part of an elite group of public school teachers -- and the first teacher from Sheridan -- to serve at Arkansas Governor's School, which is a 4-week residential summer program sponsored by the Arkansas Department of Education.
The Sheridan School District has released its K-5th grade supply lists for the 2023-24 school year. (Middle school lists will be available soon.) Please note that supply lists for each grade are the same regardless of whether your student attends school in Sheridan or East End.
