The Sheridan School District Board of Education voted on Monday to hire Stacy DeFoor as assistant superintendent of support services. DeFoor is currently serving as an assistant superintendent with the Benton School District, where he has been since 2022. He will begin in his new role starting July 1.
“We are excited to welcome Stacy DeFoor to our leadership team,” said Sheridan Superintendent Chad Pitts. “His broad range of experience – both in education and in the private sector – uniquely positions him to provide valuable insights and strategic leadership in support services. I am confident that Mr. DeFoor’s leadership will inspire our staff, students and families as we continue to strive for academic excellence in the Sheridan School District.”
“I am honored to accept the position of assistant superintendent for the Sheridan School District,” DeFoor said. “I look forward to working alongside our dedicated educators, staff, and families to support student success and strengthen our community through excellence in education.”
DeFoor has been in education 18 years as a teacher, assistant principal, and elementary principal, including 10 years as an elementary administrator for the Conway School District prior to joining Benton. DeFoor’s school in Conway was recognized as a National Blue Ribbon Award School. He began his education career as a third- and fourth-grade teacher.
DeFoor has completed three years of the Master Principal program and served as a mentor to beginning administrators. He earned his bachelor’s, master’s, and educational specialist degrees from the University of Central Arkansas. Before entering the education field, his previous experience included management and supervision in the corporate sector.
DeFoor has been married to his wife, Stephanie, for 29 years and is the father to Caleb, Devin and Haley.
