SHERIDAN, Ark. — Today, Friday, January 29, 2016, at approximately 7:30 a.m., Sheridan School District bus 15 was involved in an accident at the intersection of Highway 35 and the Sheridan bypass. No students were injured, and all were transported to school on another school bus after the accident. The school bus driver was uninjured, but as a matter of standard procedure, was taken to a local medical clinic for evaluation.

“Our number one priority is the safety of our students,” said Lauren Goins, SSD coordinator of communications. “We were very concerned about the children who were on the bus at the time of the accident.”

As a precaution, campus administrators, counselors, nurses and mental health professionals will be available to meet with any children who may need attention later in the day.

The district’s emergency response plan was implemented immediately, and district staff worked with Fire Chief Stuckey, Sheriff Vance and other emergency responders to ensure all students were safe and uninjured before transporting them to school.

"We are deeply grateful that none of our students were injured. I would like to thank all the emergency responders and our district staff for immediately responding to this accident, taking care of our students, and making our students their number one priority," said SSD Superintendent Jerrod Williams.
