During May 2024, students at Sheridan High School took a total of 555 Advanced Placement exams that tested the content knowledge and skills gained in each of their AP courses. Each qualifying score of 3, 4, or 5 equates to earned college credit, tuition savings, and proof of a student’s ability to handle college-level coursework. This year, SHS students earned an impressive total of 305 passing scores, which is the highest number in the history of the district’s AP program.
College Board recently announced the 2024 AP Scholar recipients for Sheridan High School based on performance on this year’s AP exams. A total of 59 AP Scholar Awards at all levels have been granted to students at Sheridan High School, which is an increase from last year’s 58 Scholar Awards.
Sixteen SHS students qualified for the AP Scholar with Distinction award, the highest award given, with an average score of 3.92. To receive this recognition, a student must receive an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP exams taken during his/her high school career, as well as score 3 or higher on at least five exams. This year’s AP Scholars with Distinction are Thatcher Allen, Preston Benning, Max B., Payton Bohler, Nathaniel Deckelman, Lilly George, Silas Goodman, Joshua Harvison, Keely Lafferty, Joanna Loretz, Joel Petty, Natalie Szeflinski, Abbygail Watkins, Noah Weeks, Avery Williams and Daphne Zuniga.
Twelve SHS students were awarded AP Scholar with Honors awards and had an average score of 3.61. Students are granted this award for receiving an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP exams taken during their high school careers, as well as scoring 3 or higher on at least four exams. This year’s AP Scholars with Honor are Sydney B., Nicholas Cacciatori, Miranda Gillette, Carley Hancock, Kai Herring, Heidi Jenkins, Noah Long, Zoey Newcomb, John Mason Pfenenger, Chloe Robinson, Jonathon Sessions and Dalton Summit.
A total of 31 SHS students earned the AP Scholar award, which is awarded to students who received scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP exams taken during their high school careers. These students are Jackson Appleget, Zack B., Jack Boykin, Reece Boykin, Alissa Campbell, Lauren Fleming, Braxton Fox, Cynthia Garner, Darbie Grissom, Michael Hobbs, Joshua Hyatt, Olivia Jablonski, Alexander Johnston, Callie Kilburn, Corri Langley, Ashton Matthews, Courtney Mayberry, Devon McIlwain, Presley Milliken, Marissa Mitchell, Anna Moss, Jenna Parks, Kayden Porter, Cade Reed, Andrew Shaw, Morgan Strickland, Nathan Uptagrafft, Madelyn Vaughan, Laney Wallingsford, Ava Walters and Robert Walton.
