SFA Academic Goals

 

School Goal:

All students will receive the minimum credits necessary to be promoted to tenth grade.

 

English Department:

*      Increase SAT10 reading comprehension scores to 60%.

*      Increase SAT10 reading vocabulary scores to 60%

*      Improve vocabulary scores by teaching Latin cognates.

 

Math Department:

*      Maintain 100% proficiency on EOC geometry test.

*      Increase the percentage of students scoring advanced on EOC geometry to 95%

*      Increase the percentage of students scoring proficient on EOC algebra to 88%

*      Increase the number of students passing Algebra A and B, without attending summer school.

 

Science Department:

*      Incorporate writing skills into science lesson plans.

 

Social Studies:

*      Incorporate writing skills into civics lesson plans.
 

Art Department:

*      Provide students with a variety of art media and processes as required by the Arkansas Art Frameworks.

*      Continue to emphasize understanding of math concepts through related art projects.

 

Vocational Department:

*      Increase student competency test scores by 5% for Computerized Business Applications and Word I.

*      Incorporate cross curriculum to include spelling and vocabulary lessons to assist with increasing ITBS scores.

*      Increase student skills to “compose at the keyboard” to create professional business communication documents.

 

R.O.T.C. Department

*      Improve student’s oral and written communication skills through the application of the National JROTC curriculum.
